PENN YAN - John W. Pepper, 83, of 183 Seneca St. died Monday at his home. There are no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Weldon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vincent Scotto officiating. Burial will be in Bitely Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Yan Fire Department. Mr. Pepper was born in Pepperville in Yates County. He was a former chief of the Penn Yan Fire Department and a member of Hydrant Hose Company. He was an electrician in the Penn Yan area.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Robert (Lulie) Beamish of Rochester a niece and a nephew and several great-nieces, greatnephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Finger Lakes Times November 19, 1981
