William moved from Churchtown, Columbia county around 1816 to Yates county, NY (they bought 5 acres in Benton in 1816), then moved to Defiance county, Ohio, around 1846 (the land in NY was sold in 1845). As of 1850, he and his wife Anna were living with their son, Theil...The Moons came with the Fingers and other families from around Columbia county in the 1810's and 1820's to settle in an area of Benton called the Dutch Woods. - Sue Sohn
