Henry R. McCarthy, of Jamesville, formerly of Marcellus, and summer resident of Thousand Island Park, NY, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at his home in Jamesville.
He was a partner with the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck and King for over 50 years and was a member of the American Bar Association and the Onondaga County Bar Association. Henry served in the Army during WWII and graduated from the School of Law at Syracuse University in 1948. In 1986 he received the Russell A. Taylor Award from the NY State Bar Association for his work in trust and estate law. Hank was a member of GYRO International and served as a director of Thousand Island Park Corporation.
Henry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gene Yehle McCarthy; his five daughters, Pamela and husband David Finger of Rochester, Deborah and husband Daniel Boland of Syracuse, Sandra McCarthy of Boulder, CO, Linda McCarthy and partner Laura Taht of Boulder, CO, and Melissa and husband Lloyd Withers of Syracuse; a niece, Betty Redfield of North Syracuse; a nephew, Scott Redfield of Long Island; and seven grandchildren.
As well as his gracious personality, Hank will be remembered for his love of dancing, singing, traveling, golfing, piloting his classic wooden boat "Grumpy" around the St. Lawrence River and summering with his family and friends at Thousand Island Park. - January 28, 2007
