PENN YAN - Frederick A. World, 70, of Penn Yan RD 2, retired American Legion official, died today at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Weldon Funeral Home. The Rev. Sheldon Stephenson, pastor of Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. He was born in North Tonawanda, son of Henry and Edith Schurky World, and had lived in Yates County since 1915. For 23 years he was employed by Citizens Bank and for 15 years with Corcoran Furniture Co. He was a veteran of World War I and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. Mr. Wrold waa a member of the Methodist Church, past commander of Johnson-Costello Post of American Legion and a past Chef de Gere of Yates County 40 and 8. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Tears World three sons, Paul D. and Everett H. both of Penn Yan Phillip A. of Phelps, two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn W. Dahlberg, of Penn Yan Mrs. Phyllis E. Goggin, of Fredonis two sisters, Mrs. David Wallace, and Miss Edith World, both of North Tonowanda. and 13 grandchildren. The Geneva Times September 20, 1960
