Yatesville, Feb. 27 - A very pretty home wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Wheeler on Feb. 21st. when their youngest daughter Mary lone, was united in marriage to John Tears of Penn Yan, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Tears. The couple was unattended. Rev. C. S.Dopp of Potter, pastor of the bride, performed the ceremony, using the impressive ring service. The bride was handsomely attired in a very becoming grey gown and carried a shower bouquet of white carnations. Only the immediate families were present. Miss Martha Wheeler, who is attending school at Cazenovla Seminary, and, Harvey Wheeler, who is in the University of Buffalo, studying for a dentist, were home for the event. Also a brother of the groom, Pearl Tears of Hammondsport was present. The best wishes for their many friends go with them for a long and happy wedded life. They left for Rochester and other places for a short trip and will return to Penn Yan. - Geneva Daily Times February 28, 1918. Found her on the 1900 Jerusalem, Yates, New York census (dist 137 img 4) as Mary I. Wheeler age 2.
