Oliver A. Walter, 74, of Hunns Lake road, Stanfordvllle, died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was a railroad employee from 1903 to 1950 when he retired as a signal department supervisor.
Mr. Walter was born in Grier City, Pa., Aug. 3, 1888, the son of John and Amelia Schultz Walter. A resident of Stanfordville for the last 12 years, he formerly lived in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Walter attended schools in Schulykill county. Pa., and married the former Meta M. Ehlenberger who died Aug. 13, 1962. The Walters were married March 18, 1908 in New York city.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Ruth M. Walter of Washington, D. C. and Stanfordville a son, Donald O. of Pleasant Valley two sisters, Mrs. George Donald of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Irwin Neisert of Weatherly, Pa. two brothers, Harry Lindner of Buffalo and Griffith Lindner of DeLand, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted this Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie, by the Rev. William S. Eaton, pastor of the Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Stanford cemetery, Stanfordviille. The Rhinebeck Gazette July 25, 1963 page 4.
