Wilfred E. Stone, 63, of South Hill passed away at a hospital here on Sunday morning at 4:45 o'clock where he bad been confined since an accident last Thursday morning when he broke his neck in a fall. Mr. Stone fractured several vertibrae in his neck and ruptured the spinal cord when he fell from a load of hay while assisting William Masner of Spencer Settlement with his haying. The accident was caused by the breaking of a rope.
Mr Stone was born in Baldwinsville on November 8, 1871, the son of the late Alvin R. and Emma Boyd Stone. He married Marie Van Dreaser in the town of Western 36 years ago. A double ceremony was performed at which time Alvin R Stone, a brother of Mr. Stone and Ruth Van Dreaser were also united in marriage. Both are now dead and are buried in the same cemetery plot in the Westernville Cemetery where Mr. Stone is to be laid at rest. Mr. and Mrs. Stone moved to Western 29 years ago where they have since resided at South Hill. Mr. Stone followed the occupation of farming and did considerable painting in that vicinity. He was affiliated with the Masonic Order and was a member of the South Hill Methodist Church. Besides his widow, he leaves two sons, Navarre N. and Alvin F. Stone at home Two brothers, Howard C. and Newell H. Stone of Penn Yan and also one sister, Mrs. George Race of Penn Yan. Daily Sentinel, Rome, N.Y. July 8, 1934
