The marriage of Miss Betty Irene Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell S. Thomas of Corning, R. D. 1, to Harry S. Love, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Love of Watkins Glen, R. D. 2, took place Saturday morning, July 5, at 11:00 o'clock in the South Corning Community church, which was decorated with baskets of flowers.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. I. A. Falk, pastor of the Big Flats Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Shannon of Monterey, sister and brother-in-law of the groom attended the couple. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a street length dress of powder blue, white turban with blue veil, white slippers and a corsage of gardenias.
Mrs. Shannon was dressed in old rose with a corsage of gardenias. Blue with white accessories was worn by the bride's mother with a corsage of red roses, and the groom's mother wore a blue print crepe with white accessories and a corsage of red roses.
A luncheon for 15 was held after the ceremony at the bride's home where a color scheme of pink and blue was carried out in the decorations. The couple left by car for a few day's trip in Canada and Niagara Falls. For traveling the bride wore a beige sharkshin suit with matching accessories.
The bride attended school in South Corning and Northside High School from which she was graduated. She continued her education at Elmira Business Institute and is employed at Keenan's Pharmacy.
Mr. Love received his education in Watkins Glen and is employed by the Corning Glass Works. They will live in a newly furnished apartment in South Corning. Before her marriage, Mrs. Love was honored at variety showers given by Mrs. E. A. Wood and by Miss Ruth Casterline both of South Corning. - Watkins Express July 9, 1941
