John R. Tinklepaugh, Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. John R. Tinklepaugh of Livingston, will receive his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF and his jet pilot's wings, on December 18 at graduation excises at Laredo AFB, Texas. Before entering the Air Force, he graduated from Red Hook Central School, Tabor Academy and attended the University of Virginia for two years. He completed his air force basic training at Sampson AFB and attended the Air Force's Radio and Counter Measure Electronics Schools before beginning his flight training. His parents are flying to Texas this weekend to attend the graduation ceremonies. -

The funeral of 1st Lt John R. Tinklepaugh Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Tinklepaugh of Livingston, was held Tuesday afternoon at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manorton, with burial in the family plot in the church cemetery.
Lt Tinklepaugh was killed December 5 when his light trainer plane crashed near Glossop, Derbyshire, England. His body was returned to the United States and arrived in Hudson Saturday, from where it was brought to his home.
At the funeral Tuesday a detail of six First Lieutenants, U. S. Air Force, and 18 enlisted men from Stewart Air Force Base at Newburgh acted as bearers, firing squad, and color guard. At the cemetery, full military honors were paid Lt. Tinklepaugh.
The Rev. John N. Campbell officiated at the church as well as at the graveside. Lt. Tinklepaugh is survived by his parents as well as a brother, Clyde, and a sister, Mrs. Clifford Weaver of Claverack. The Chatham Courier December 20, 1956
