The marriage of Miss Victoria Elizabeth Thayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Thayer, Ghent, to Franklin George Bassakilis, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Bassakalis, also of Ghent was this afternoon in Christ Lutheran Church to that village. The Rev. David A. Jensen officiated.
The bride wore white satin and net with a sweetheart neckline and train and a seed pearl tiara with a fingertip veil and carried
sweet ocacs and carnations.
Miss Rebecca L. Mesick, Ghent, maid of honor, wore blue satin and net with feather headdress and carried a nosegay of blue button chrysanthemums. Mrs. H. Malcolm Van Loan, Nassau, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Ralph Gardner, Chatham, bridesmaids, wore ciel blue and net with manning feather headdresses and carried nosegays of yellow button chrysanthemums.
Harold C. Moore, Ghent, was best man and Clifford G. Thayer, the bride's brother, and Donald Kline, Linlithgo, were ushers.
A reception followed at the Thayer home. The couple will live in Hudson.
The bride attended Chatham High School. The bridegroom served four years with the Army Air Forces in the Caribbean area. - The Knickerbocker News November 23, 1946
