Cornelis J. Keller, of 1360 Route 446, died Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2014) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean.
Born on April 17, 1924, in Java, Indonesia (the former Dutch East Indies), he was a son of Jacovis and Helena Buyn Keller. He married Gladys Finger, who predeceased him Jan. 1, 2007.
Mr. Keller was raised in the Netherlands and became a machinist. He lived and worked in Germany for several years and returned to Holland where he worked for the VanderHorst Corp. He emigrated to the United States, where he continued his employment with VanderHorst Corp. He then worked for Acme Electric Co. for several years. He also was employed by Alcas Cutlery and later Cubic Storage prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean and the Guys and Gals Club of Hinsdale. Along with his wife, he was a ham radio operator.
Surviving are a daughter, Helena Gessel-Keller; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Keller was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
Burial will be at Allegany Cemetery. - Olean Times Herald October 24, 2014
