Eddy Herman Axtell, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 1962, at Bath Veterans Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born in Big Flats and spent most of his life there, moving to Dundee 13 years ago.
For the past 17 years he was a janitor at Dresden Electric and Gas plant. Mr. Axtell was a member of the Big Flats Community Church and
was a veteran of World War I.
On April 12, 1924, Mr. Axtell was united in marriage with Ruth Gibbs in Barrington. Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Lawrence of Big Flats, Dale of Penn Yan, Gerald of Kinney's Corners; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Parmelee of Second Milo and Mrs. John Conklin of Dundee; 3 sisters Mrs. Joe Fulkerson of Big Flats, Mrs. Maud Russell of Binghamton; 1 brother Herbert Axtell of Rochester; 14 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. - The Chronicle-Express October 18, 1962
