Richard L. Finger, 67, of Dodge Center, the last manager of the former Dodge Center Creamery, died Saturday (Feb. 10, 1996) at Rochester Methodist Hospital after an illness of several months.
Born Oct. 24, 1928, in Steele County, he lived in various locations in southern Minnesota during his youth. He moved with his family to rural Kasson in 1941. He married Anna Ripka on April 21, 1961, in Kasson. The couple lived in Dodge Center and he managed the Dodge Center Creamery until it closed in 1972. Mr. Finger subsequently worked for Land O'Lakes at Pine Island, at Seneca Foods in Rochester, and at the Owatonna Canning Co. plant in Dodge Center. He retired in 1990. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kasson, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kimberly (Mrs. David) Learmann of Welch, Christine (Mrs. Eric) Eggert of Stewartville and Irene (Mrs. William) Anderson of Rochester; two sons, Richard "Charlie" Finger of Kasson and Rickhard "Rick" Finger at home; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Borchert of Blooming Prairie and Catherine "Katie" (Mrs. Lloyd E.) Johnson of Dodge Center; and two brothers, Reuben Finger of Kasson and Donald Finger of Joliet, Ill. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
