Emma "Pauline" Finger, 95 of Topeka, Kansas formerly of Powhattan, passed away April 15, 2014 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
She was born on a farm southeast of Whiting, Kansas on January 8, 1919 to parents Charles Augustine Eames and Ethel Frances (Woodward) Eames.
She attended Parallel District 38 rural school and graduated from Whiting Rural High School in 1937. She taught 5 years in rural Jackson County Schools and 1 year for Whiting Grade School. On June 18, 1944 she married Warner Finger at the Powhattan Methodist Parsonage. They resided on the family farm southwest of Powhattan for 57 years until Warner passed away on April 9, 2001.
In April of 2002 she moved to Topeka to live with her daughter, Nancy.
Pauline was a member of the Whiting Christian Church and later the Powhattan Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Comet Road Extension Unit, Helping Hand Club. Served 1 year as 4-H Representative on Brown County Extension Council, member of Planning Board for new Powhattan Grade School and Gymn. She also served several terms on Tri-County Manor Board. Pauline also worked 7 years for NEK-CAP, 7 years at the Horton Clinic and three years at the Duckwall Store.
She is survived by four sons, Stephen & Darlene of Horton, Ks., Richard & Linda of Lawrence, Ks., Ronald & Rebekah of Topeka, Ks., David of Horton, Ks., one daughter, Nancy Finger of Topeka, Ks., one brother, Don Eames of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two sisters, Maxine Schumaker of Holton, Ks., and Amy McKinney of Port St. Lucie, Florida. four grandchildren, Jessica & Forrest Stodghill of Joplin, Mo., Andria Finger of Topeka, Ks., Kelsey & Kristofer Finger of Lawrence, Ks., six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, two sister-in-laws and many friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
