Simeone
Thursday was a field day for Madalin people, when about half of the village went to the court house at Poughkeepsie to hear the suit over a dog bite tried.
Simeon D. Finger, a resident of Madalin upwards of 74 years claimed that the dog of John Kolwes had bitten him about a year ago and that the pains still continued and that he would suffer all the rest of his life and demanded $2,500 damages.
A number of witnesses were called upon each side, and both of the physicians called, Dr. C. A. Pritchard, of Madalin, and Dr. John A. Card, of Poughkeepsie, agreed that the wound was of a very minor nature and that no permanent injuries had resulted.
After being out about an hour the jury returned with a verdict of $90 for the plaintiff. James Carroll and Archie MacKenna of Poughkeepsie appeared for the plaintiff and William Harry Montgomery represented the defendant. - The Rhinebeck Gazette June 13, 1925
