Lilacs, tulips and iris suggesting the fragrance and bloom of country gardens, were used in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Finger of Potter, for the marriage of their only daughter Bernice Fingar to Alfred H. Dewey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dewey, Sr. of Canandaigua Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Stephen S. Pratt of Canandaigua officiated at the wedding service.

The bride wore a stunning gown of aqua chiffon and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Helen Dewey of Canandaigua sister of the groom was maid of honor and wore a gown of aqua lace and carried a bouquet of yellow tulips and snapdragons.

Walter Fingar, brother of the bride acted as the best man for Mr. Dewey Miss Jane Douglass of Cheshire cousin of the groom played the wedding march. Mrs. Fingar mother of the bride wore blue lace and wore a corsage of rosebuds. Mrs. Dewey, mother of the groom, wore blue flowered chiffon with a corsage of rosebuds. Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served to fifty guests, twelve being seated at the bride's table, which was decorated with the bride's cake. Color scheme used was pink and white. The waiters were friends of the bride, Mrs. Evelyn Stratton, Mrs. Marjorie Champlin and the Misses Blanche and Ruth Ingram. The bride is a graduate of Rushvllle High school 1933 and Mr. Dewey of Canandaigua Academy 1921. After a trip to Washington, D. C. the bride and groom will be home after June 6th at Canandaigua. Pre-nuptial events included an aluminum shower by Mrs. Walter Fingar Of Canandaigua, variety shower by Mrs. Leslie Blodgett of Potter, variety shower by Mrs. Glen Martin of Middlesex, five and ten cent store shower by Mrs. Chas. Campbell of Potter and a dinner party for the groom by Dr. and Mrs. P. O. Pulver of Penn Yan. - Geneva Daily Times June 2, 1937 page 11
