Found him on the 1930 Ghent, Columbia, New York census (dist 19 img 3) age 46, single, living at home.
George. W. Thayer, 78, died today at the Fiero Nursing Home in Chatham.
Mr. Thayer, a native of Kinderhook, had been a resident of Ghent where he operated a farm. He had also been employed as a telegrapher on the Harlem Division of the New York Central.
He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Roscoe Fingar, Mrs. Franklin Bassakalis both of West Ghent, Mrs. Malcolm Van Loan of Chatham and two sons, Calvin and Clifford of Huntington, L. I. - The Chatham Courier November 9, 1961
