In a pretty wedding ceremony at Christ's Evangelical Lutheran church, Ghent, Saturday at 3:30 o'clock, Miss Doris M. Thayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Thayer, of Ghent, became the bride of H. Malcolm Van Loan, of Chatham, son of Mrs. Henry L. Alvord.
The pastor, the Rev. Ray E. Kulman, performed the marriage, a double ring ceremony being used. The bride, who was given in marriage by
her father, was most charming in a beautiful old fashioned wedding gown with long veil and lace cap and carried an old fashioned bridal bouquet.
She was attended by Mrs. Roscoe Fingar, of West Ghent, her sister, who wore pink and carried autumn flowers.
A DeWitt Tubbs, of Chatham, was best man. Marvin Fingar, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Mrs. Ray E. Kulman was the soloist and sang. "O. Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly," Mrs. Russell was at the organ. Clifford Thayer, Ghent, brother of the bride, and Randall Marcy, Chatham, were ushers.
The church was beautifully decorated with fall flowers, and was crowded with relatives and friends of the popular young couple. Following the ceremony a reception was tendered the newlyweds at the home of the bride's parents with about sixty guests present.
Later, the couple left on a motor trip to New England. They will make their future home in this city.
