Donald Kenneth Finger, 93 a longtime farmer of the Little Prairie area died April 24, 1994 in the St.Lucas Care Center in Faribault.
He was born Dec. 4, 1900 to John and Esther (Roarch) Finger in Paynesville. His parents operated a general store and later farmed in the area. He attended school in Paynesville.
In 1919, the family moved to a farm in the Little Prairie area on County Road 8. Finger bought the farm in 1927 and through the years had dairy cows, a Hereford beef herd, turkeys and hogs.
On Aug. 24, 1929, he married Laura Mae Hamann at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple raised their three children on their farm in the Little Prairie community and were faithful members of the Little Prairie Methodist Church.
In the early 1990's they moved to Northfield. Finger continued to do farm chores every day, helping his son, Jon, who had purchased the farm.
Finger raised many collie dogs though the years, and at one time sold quite a few puppies. He had a special place in his heart for all children and was especially close to and proud of his own grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura in 1985, a brother, Clarence, a grandson, Mitchell, a granddaughter, Diane and a great-grandson, Colton.
He is survived by a daughter, Emiily (and Quinten) Burt, of Long Prairie; sons, Gene (and Marlene) of Northfield, and Jon (and Phyllis) of Northfield, a sister, Lucille Bull of Dundas; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
