Found him on the 1870 Manito, Mason, Illinois census, age 50. Born Maryland.

Found him on the 1880 Putman, Fulton, Illinois census (img 2), age 62, farmer. Born Pennsylvania, father born Pennsylvania, mother born Pa. His wife Eliza is not listed. His son Albert , age 33, and his wife Jane, age 27, and their son Weley, age 1, are living with him, as well as son Henry, age 21.

The death certificate of his daughter, Rosanna, says he was born in Pennsylvania. However, the 1860 and 1870 and 1900 censuses list his birth place as Maryland.

In my files I have two interesting postcards that were sent to Mrs. Lottie Rowland (wife of Luther). One is signed from your cousin, Wm. H. Boyer (Apr 1911). The other is signed from your uncle Mr. W. P. Boyer (Nov 1909). Both are postmarked Herrington, Kansas.

Another postcard sent to Mrs Lottie Rowland was signed by Wm H Boyer, postmarked Strong, Kans Dec 29, 1916. - on file

In addition, I have a photo with Bill Boyer - Grampa Rowland's Cousin written on the back (written by Vera Finger, whose Grampa Rowland would be Luther Rowland). Looking at a vehicle in the picture places it around 1930, and the person looks to be in his 30's.

At his home on the Ingleside road, on Monday, May 21, 1923, occurred the death of John W. Rector, after an illness of about three weeks with grip and heart trouble. Deceased was a son of the late Jacob and Maria Coons Rector, and was born on the farm where he died, on July 10, 1846. He was a successful farmer, and respected by all who knew him. At Fillmore, N. Y., on December 23, 1902, he was united in marriage with Miss Eunice Wilgus, who survives. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 p. m. tomorrow (Thursday), conducted by Rev. W. T. H. Bayford. Burial will be made in Rose Ridge cemetery. - The Naples Record May 23, 1923
