Louise H. Finger, 85, of Dresden died Sunday, March 22, 2009. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her memory to the Dresden United Methodist Church, Dresden, NY 14441. Louise was born in Penn Yan on April 24, 1923, the daughter of the late Milford and Flossie Yentzer Daines. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1940. Louise married her husband, John H. Finger on Feb. 14, 1942. Louise lived all her life in Dresden and spent many years working in the Dresden and Penn Yan School system. Louise is survived by her children, Terry (Beverly) Finger of Jefferson, Ohio, Marshall Finger of Winter Park, Fla., and Mitchell (Maureen) Finger of Windham, Maine; grandchildren, Jeffrey Finger, Denise (Harvey) Rettburg, Pamela (Mark) Hobbs, Michelle (Frank) Fioritti, Terry (Sally) Finger Jr., Andrea (Bill) Myers, and Joanne (Joshua) Relyea; 14 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Doreen Finger of Himrod; sister, Barbara Fredericksen of Penn Yan; sister-in-law, Catherine Jensen of Penn Yan; and many nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her husband, John H. Finger in 2004; her son, John ‘Rick’ H. Finger Jr. in 1993; and her sister, Lillian Gelder in 2006.

Your correspondent has read the "'Twenty-five Years Ago" item of June 8, 1886, in your issue of June 8, 1911. in reference to Clarence Fingar, son of James C. Fingar, both deceased, who was seriously injured June 4, 1886 by falling from a wind mill on his father's premises, causing a concussion of the spine with paralysis. Your correspondent recalls several incidents in connection with that case. This young man was attended at the time by Drs. A. W. Brash and W. B. Plainer, and Frank Lichtenhan acted as nurse, and attendant in the case. - The Hudson Evening Register June 14, 1911 page 5.
