In 2007 I made contact with Fred Finger of California and his sister Victoria Finger Walker. They are descended from this line of Fingers that stayed in Hommershausen/Rengershausen. I added their line to my document 'Fingers from Bottendorf to America' on the Finger Family webpage, www.fingerfamily.com. Fred found my document there and alerted his sister, a professional genealogist. She had never known what Ulrich had discovered about Samuel Finger. She had her contact in Germany go and review the original documents in Marburg. She mailed me the summary 18 Jun 2007. Christian was a Schaefer (sheepherder) and Ackermann (farmer) in Hommershausen.

Since Ulrich doesn't list this individual, it is suspect that he is the child of Johann Jost Finger, aka Jost Finger, and his wife Maria.

In a letter dated 28 Sep 2000, Ulrich says, "These 'Benden' Fingers have been very distant relatives of the rest of the Bottendorfer Fingers since their forefather Kurt Finger came from Hommershausen in 1714 after his, Kurt's, grandfather Christian had married from Bottendorf to Hommershausen about 1660."

This description by Ulrich fits the data from Timm Garde listed here.

Ulrich clarified the relationship in a letter dated 4 Oct 2001 - "You already had a hunch of the fact that Christian is nowhere mentioned in our church-registers which start not before 1665. Then he was living in Hommershausen already for eight years. And he does not appear in our registers as godfather, too, in later decades. So far the single reference to his Bottendorfian extraction seems to be that marriage entry in the parochial registers of the parish Viermuenden the village Hommershausen has belonged to in former times."
