Willis Emphraim (sic) Fingar, the son of
Peter and the late
Mary Lasher Fingar, was born in North Germantown on May 9th, 1896. He studied at North Germantown district school No. 1 and at Albany Business College. On November 19th, 1917 Fingar enlisted in the United States Air Service. He served at Kelly Field, Texas, U.S. Motor School, Detroit, and at Garden City, Long Island, with the 349th Aero Squadron. On May 19th, 1918, Private Fingar embarked for Liverpool. Overseas his service was continued in Netheravon, England and Gormanstown, Ireland. Fingar returned to this country on December 11th, 1918, and received his honorable discharge on December 23rd following. -
