Found her on the 1920 Manhattan, New York, New York census (dist 1174 img 20) as Nora Cecelia Ward age 3.

Nora W. Finger, 83, 8281 N Range Line Rd., Oconto, passed away May 16, 2000 at Bellin Health Hospital Center, Green Bay. The former Nora Cecelia Ward was born February 26, 1917 in New York City to the late John and Delia (Fleming) Ward. She married Anthony E. Finger May 19, 1946 at St. Francis DeSales Roman Catholic Church in New York City.

She was a graduate, with honors, of Julia Richmond High School, New York City. She was also a graduate of Hunter College with degrees in English and American History and she did 2 years of graduate work at Fordham University. After college she worked as an Auditor for Banker's Trust Company, New York.

Nora joined the Navy in 1942 and, while in the Navy and attending Radcliff University, met her husband, Anthony [Finger], who was at the same time attending Harvard University under the auspices of the Navy. Nora served as a Naval Pay Master first at Brooklyn Navy Yard, then in Berkeley, California and, at the end of World War II, was serving in Ames, Iowa. When Tony and Nora were married, she came to Wisconsin and was a devoted farmer's wife and loving mother. She taught Latin and English at Oconto High School. In later years she became a genealogist, tracing family histories for numerous families all over the world. She and Tony took numerous trips to Europe for genealogical research and to meet the many people with whom she had corresponded in the course of her work. She was also an avid quilt maker, making many for family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Anthony a daughter Barbara (David) Lewis, Oconto three sons: James (Marcie) Finger, Basking Ridge, N. J. Michael (Melanie) Finger, Bloomington, IN Kevin (Susan) Finger, Minneapolis, MN two sisters: Ellen Ward, Amherst, MA Mary Corneliusen, South Hadley, MA eight grandchildren: Dorothy, John, Jr., James, Jr., Alex, Nicholas, Lucy and Miranda Finger, and Kevin Lewis. She was preceded in death by a son John and a daughter Mary Margaret.
