PENN YAN - An accident on Rt. 54A near Kinney's Corners in the town of Jerusalem last night caused considerable damage to the two vehicles involved and also a neck injury to Mrs. Pauline Lane, a passenger in one of the cars. Mrs. Lane's husband, Floyd Lane, 32, of RD 5, was slowing his automobile in an attempt to make a left turn when he was struck by a car driven by Robert Whitbeck, 22, of Branchport, according to the Yates County Sheriff's Dept. Upon hitting the Lane vehicle, Whitbeck's car continued over an embankment off the highway and into a field. Neither Whitbeck or his passenger, Gene Whitbeck, were injured. The accident, which occured at 10:30 p.m., was investigated by Deputy Richard Ackerman of the Yates County Sheriff's Dept. He issued a summons to Robert Whitbeck for driving at a speed not reasonable and prudent. - The Geneva Times January 18, 1973
