Penn Yan, June 28 - Bluff Point Methodist church, decorated with baskets of pink and white peonies, roses and candelabra with lighted tapers, was the setting for a pretty wedding Saturday. At 3 p. m. Miss Olive Minnie Coates and Sidney Keith Folts were united in marriage by Rev. Ernest Butterfield, pastor.
Bows of white satin ribbon marked the pews reserved for the members of the immediate families.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Coates, RD 5, was escorted by her father, and was attended by Mrs Norman Finger, her sister, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Donald Neilson, the bridegroom's sister, and Mrs. Glen Reiners, Penn Yan. Judy Hopkins served, as flower girl and Howard Turner, Jr., as ring bearer. Robert Coates, brother of the bride, was best man. Ushers were Donald Neilson, bridegroom's brother-in-law, and Robert Parmelee, Penn Yan.
The couple left Saturday night for a short wedding trip and on their return will live at Bluff Point. Geneva Daily Times June 28, 1950

PENN YAN - Mrs. Olive C. Folts, 59, of 2898 Coates Road died today (April 20) at her home. Friends may call at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. William Mudge will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Yates County Unit, or the Bluff Point United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Folts was born Nov. 3, 1928 in the town of Jerusalem, daughter of Howard and Genevieve Hopkins Coates. She was a member of Bluff Point United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed at the Citizens Bank of Penn Yan, Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital and the Penn Yan Express.
Surviving are her husband, Rodney one daughter, Mrs. Vann (Gail) Strong of Penn Yan four sons, Richard R., William M., Michael H., and James H. Folts, all of Penn Yan five grandchildren a brother, Robert Coates of Marietta, Ga. two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Rachael) Fingar of Bluff Point, and Mrs. Floyd (Pauline) Lane of Penn Yan and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
