White poinsettias, Christmas greens and candlelight decorated the altar of St. John's Church, Medina, for the marriage of Melinda Louisa Moss to Jan Robinson Finzar on Dec. 27. The Rev. George N. Kerr, rector of St. Luke's Church, Attica, performed the wedding ceremony for the daughter of the Very Rev. and Mrs. R. Benjamin Moss of Medina, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Finzar Sr. of MacDougall. Candelabra with white velvet bows, white poinsettias and greens decorated the church windows and and aisle candelabra were hung with fir, pine, holly and white velvet bows through which a double procession was arranged. The bridegroom was escorted by his parents followed by the bride escorted to the altar by her parents. The bride wore a white satin gown with chapel length train designed with scalloped neck and hemline, a fitted bodice appliqued with embroidered lace and seed pearls, and bishop sleeves with bridal lace inserts. Her bowler style hat of white tulle was trimmed with lace and held a six-tiered illusion veil.
She carried an ermine trimmed white velvet muff incorporating her grandmother's bridal lace handkerchief and crowned with a spray of red sweetheart roses, white freesia and variegated ivy. Katherine V. Moss was maid of honor for her sister. The bride was also attended by Lyn E Finzar of Boston, Mass., sister of the bridegroom Susan J. Wollman of Little Silver, N.J., and Marnie A. Casanova of Las Vegas, Nev. John D. Finzar Jr., brother of the bridegroom, was the best man. Darryl Helmer and Harry Serrett of Geneva, and Lawrence Moss, brother of the bride, served as ushers. A reception in the church hall immediately followed the ceremony. Following a wedding trip to Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Finzar will be at home in Geneva. - Finger Lakes Times January 31, 1981
