Ernest Tears, the 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Tears, was found to be missing on Wednesday afternoon and the sheriff and his deputies together with several neighbors were notified. A search was made and it was thought he had been kidnapped, so the sheriffs of the four adjoining counties were notified. Later the young lad was seen coming from the hay mow where it is thought he had been asleep. - Penn Yan Democrat August 26, 1927
