Penn Yan, Dec. 30 - Francis Tears, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tears, of Penn Yan, was at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital here last evening suffering from a possible fracture of the skull suffered when his coasting sled collided with a bridge. The boy is reported to be in a very critical condition. According to Information concerning the accident, Francis had been coasting on Window Hill, with several other youngsters of the village. He had made several trips down the Incline on his sled, and was approaching the foot of the hill when his speeding sled collided with the framework of the bridge at the bottom of the incline. The force of the impact knocked the boy unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital, where examination disclosed a probable skull fracture. - Geneva Daily Times December 30, 1925 page 10
DUNDEE, Oct. 6 - Miss Helen Dennison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Dennison, of Spring street, Dundee, is a patient in the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Hospital at Penn Yan following an automobile accident Sunday night at the top of the Main street hill, Penn Yan. Miss Dennison is suffering a possible fracture of the skull, severe lacerations and bruises about tha face. Her condition is serious. Miss Dennison was a passenger In a machine owned and operated by Francis Tears, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tears of Penn Yan. Wlllard Newby, son of Mrs. Maude Newby of Penn Yan, was also a passenger In the Tears machine. It is believed that the glaring headlights of an approaching automobile blinded the driver of the Tears car, which caused the machine to leave the road and crash Into a pole. Mr. Tears was severely Injured, suffering a fractured skull and other Injuries. Mr. Newby was slightly Injured but returned to his home after receiving first aid treatment.
