POUGHKEEPSIE - Fred T. Morris Jr., 76, a Town of Poughkeepsie resident, died Oct. 21, 1992 at his home. Mr. Morris was employed as a maintenance foreman for 28 years at the former Schatz Federal Bearings plant in Poughkeepsie. He served in the U.S. Army's 103rd Infantry Regiment as an anti-tank gunner. A staff sergeant, he survived four major beachfront battles. Mr. Morris received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and a Bronze Star. He was a founder of the Overlook Rod & Gun Club. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie. Born May 25, 1916, in Millbrook, he was the son of Fred T. Sr. and Emma Fingar Morris. On June 20, 1948, in Poughkeepsie, he married the former Gloria Ciancio who died Oct. 6, 1960. Mr. Morris is survived by two sons, Frederick T. Morris III of Poughkeepsie and John Morris of Pleasant Valley a brother, Howard Morris of Hopewell Junction two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Allen Funeral Home, Main Street, Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Poughkeepsie.
