The Rev. Allen E. Clapper, retired clergyman of the Troy Methodist conference, died yesterday at his home in Niverville after a lengthly illness. He was 77 years old. The Rev. Mr. Clapper left the pulpit eighteen years ago after an active and brilliant career stretching over a long span of years. His last pastorate was at Clintonville. During his years in the Troy conference he served nearly twenty congregations. He was pastor of the Methodist church at Grafton back in 1896 and later served at Pittsburgh, 1898 Schroon Lake, 1900 West Lebanon and Granville, 1903-904 Monkton, Vt., 1907, and Clintonville. He is survived by his widow and three sisters. The funeral will be held privately at his residence in Niverville tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be' in Martindale.
