Miss Barbara Ellen Simmons, daughter of Mrs. Mabel E. Simmons, 82 Wrentham street, and Arthur F. Simmons of Saugerties, became the bride of Rudolph Heinrich Schlichting Jr., son of Mr. and Mis. Rudolph H Schlichting of 256 Washington avenue, Sundav, Feb. 19, at 2 p. m. in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Frank L. Gollnick performed the double ring ceremony. Donald Romme was at the organ and John Amarello sang, 'Ich Liebe Dich,' 'Because,' and 'O, Perfect Love.' Miss Simmons was given in marriage by her uncle, Austin F. Simmons. The bride wore a white lace over net ballerina gown with long pointed sleeves, lace jacket fashioned with a Peter Pan collar. Her crown was trimmed with sequins, pearls and rhinestones and it held a French illusion fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet ot white roses. Mrs. Joan Sottile of West Hurley was the matron of honor for her sister. She wore an orchid ballerina gown fashioned with long lace sleeves, tight bodice and a net skirt over taffeta. Mrs. Sottile carried orchid and pink pompons centered with matching gladioli of blue. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Grace Bradley of Newport, R. I and Miss Barbara Mames, Wall street. Their gowns were styled like that of the matron of honor, only in pink. Miss Judy Quick, the bride's cousin was the flower girl and she wore an aqua taffeta gown and carried a basket of pink pompons and gladioli.
Best man for his brother was Henry Schlicting of 256 Washington avenue. Ushers included Ray Bradley, Newport, R. I Joseph Schneider, Ulster Park Frederick Goeller, Clinton avenue and Gabriel Sottile, West Hurley.
A reception was held at the Casablanca for approximately 100 guests. For her wedding trip to Florida, the bride chose an aqua faille suit with pink accessories. The couple will reside at 82 Wrentham street. - The Kingston Daily Freeman February 27, 1956 Found her on the 1940 Kingston, Ulster, New York census (dist 56-16 img 24) as Barbara Simmons age 2.
