Raymond A. Coon of Red Hook died Friday in the Northern Dutchess Health Center at Rhinebeck following a heart seizure. He was 61 years old and lifelong resident of the town of Red Hook.
Mr. Coon was born in Red Hook on Sept. 16, 1892, the son of the late Alvin H. and Fredricka Metzgar Coon. He had been a farmer for some years and was a broker in produce and apples. A director of the First National Bank of Red Hook, he was also a member of St. Patil's Lutheran Church in Red Hook, a member of the Church Council and of the Lutheran Brotherhood. He was treasurer of St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, a member of Red Hook Grange and a director of the Red Hook Farmers Cooperative Association.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Lasher Coon; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Stickles of Livingston and Mrs. Gwendolyn M. Boice of Red Hook; five grandchildren, Norma Ann Boice, Donna M. Boice, Sue Ellen Boice, Bernard Stickles Jr. and Carol Jean Stickles, and several nieces and nephews. - The Red Hook Times September 16, 1954
