Olean, Oct. 31 - Patrolman Edward M. (Whitey) Wittenburg, 61, died at his home, 210 North Thirteenth St., early this afternoon following a heart attack. Mr. Wittenburg, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Wittenburg, had been a member of the local police force for 20 years. A resident of Olean for 50 years, Mr. Wittenburg was born in Saginaw, Mich. He was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post and a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, the Demsey Club and Emanuel Lutheran Church, Olean. - Buffalo Courier-Express November 1, 1953
