He served in the Civil War in the Co B, 3rd NY Lt Art and Unassigned 2 Bttln V.R.C.(Vet Reserve Corps) He enlisted on Dec 17, 1861 and was discharged Dec 17, 1864. He received an invalid pension (cert 150318) for 'Gunshot wound of right knee and chronic rheumatism and resulting disease of heart (was shot at the battle of Kingston, N.C. 14th of December 1862)'. According to a medical report he was 5' 7' tall, 120 lbs, blue eyes, brown hair, and his occupation was boatman.' - Pension Record, NARA
