Found him on the 1930 Jerusalem, Yates, New York census (dist 9 img 18) as Leslie L. Dinehart age 16.
Lyle Ball, aged 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ball of Ouyanoga, is suffering with wounds in both legs received yesterday afternoon when a single barreled shot gun went off prematurely. Leslie Dinehart, aged 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dinehart of Shanty Plains, also received injuries in one leg by the same discharge. Both are being treated by Dr. Ross E. Lautzenheiser of the Foster Hatch Medical group. The injuries were such that it is expected that both will fully recover after the leaden pellets are picked from the flesh. The two young men went hunting yesterday on the Frank Fitzwater farm near Italy Hill. One of them dropped the gun on ice as they were attempting to slide down into the Robeson gulley and it is supposed that the trigger or hammer caught on a bush, causing the weapon to be discharged. Dinehart carried Ball nearly a mile and a half to the nearest farm house, occupied by Alfred Hamlin. After first aid both hunters were taken in an ambulance to the Medical Group building. They then were taken to the home of Dinehart's sister, Mrs. John Hopkins, 156 Water street. - Geneva Daily Times February 10, 1933 page 3.
