Penn Yan. June 16 - Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Thayer funeral chapel, 201 East Bun street, for John Tears, 84, who died to Benton Saturday, June 18th. The Rev. R. N. Jessup of the Baptist Church officiated and burial was In Briggs Cemetery, Benton. Surviving are his wife two daughters, Mrs. Carlton Roe, Bellona, and Mrs. Oliver Newby, Benton one son, Roy, at home a brother William Tears, of Hall, and a sister, Mrs. Eva Bassage, Ovid. - Geneva Daily Times June 16, 1942
