Clifford Kilts, sixteen-year-old son of Mrs. Hazel Kilts of Herkimer, was instantly killed and his cousin, Paul Couse, aged twenty-eight, of Milford, seriously injured late Tuesday afternoon when a truck driven by Couse crashed into a ditch after failing to make a turn at the bottom of a steep grade. The accident occurred at Edson Corners on the Milford-Laurens road near the home of John Wilcox. Kilts was a passenger and is reported to have obtained a job on road work, which he would have started Wednesday morning. Couse is confined at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Mattie Kilts, at Milford, and was reported, still unconscious late Tuesday night: Clifford Kilts came to his death from a broken neck, according to reports from authorities investigating the crash.
The lad was born in Johnstown, December 8, 1916, son of the late Charles Kilts and Mrs. Hazel Kilts. He leaves his mother and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Eaker and Mrs. Gertrude Eaker, all of Herkimer. The Otsego Farmer April 14, 1933

Paul Seth Couse, 64, of Jordanville-Van Hornesville Road, Jordanville RD, a security guard for Life Savers Beech-Nut Packing Co. in Canajoharie, died yesterday in his home. He was bom in Stanfordville and attended its school. He married Mabel Chamberlain in 1921 in Poughkeepsie. They came to Jordanville area eight years ago. Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Egbert .(Charlotte) Buckhout, Jordanville RD Mrs. Betty Jean Couse, Little Falls, and Mrs. Thomas (Pauline) Puskarenko Jordanviile RD a brother, Lee, Poughkeepsie: two sisters. Mrs. Charles Kellerhouse, Clinton Comers and Mrs. Maude Rockefeller, New Milford, Conn.
