George Finger, 63, former mayor of Capitol Heights, Md., organizer and first president of the Prince Georges
Volunteer Firemen's Association, died yesterday of a heart attack while visiting his sister,
Mrs. Arnold Fox, in Long Island City, N. Y.
Born in London, Mr. Finger came to America at the age of 14. He had served as a delegate from the Painter’s Union to the Central Labor Union in Washington. Last Summer he was one of the directors of the firemen's parade in Alexandria.
He is survived by his widow,
Mrs. Minnnie Finger; a son,
George Jr., and a daughter,
Eleanor, all of whom
were with him at his death. Besides Mrs. Fox, he is survived by two other sisters,
Mrs. Charles Yandik, of Sea Cliff, N. Y., and
Mrs. Robert Burgman, of Jamaica, Long Island; two brothers,
Charles J. Finger and
Emil Finger, both of Fayetteville, Ark., and a niece,
Mrs. Fredric G. Pitts, of Silver Spring.
Funeral services were to be in Long Island City today. -
