Found her on the 1910 Election District 12, Baltimore, Maryland census (dist 42 img 17) as Catherine M. Bortner age 3. Found her on the 1920 Baltimore Ward 26, Baltimore (Independent City), Maryland census (dist 427 img 5) as Kathlen Bortner age 13. Kathleen was the 'middle' child of Levi and Elizabeth BORTNER. Mr. and Mrs. SMITH, neighbors, had no children and enjoyed spoiling Kathleen so she spent a lot of time at their home, and vacationing with them. They took her to Bermuda with them on their 50th wedding anniversary, and Mr. Smith got Kathleen a job with the Balt. Gas & Electric Co. which she had to quit when she married. Married to Charles F BUECHLER who worked for Standard Oil Co, they lived a short time in Oklahoma after daughter Joan was born, then moved to New Jersey where daughter Nancy was born in Elizabeth. Moved to Scotch Plains in 1954 and in 1975 moved to Divide, Colo. Kathleen started work for BG&E at age 17. She made $12/month and worked there 8 years. She was confirmed at Batz's Church in 1920 - German United Evangelical Church, East Ave and Dillon St. - All above from John Vanko
