Found him on the 1850 Marion, Lawrence, Indiana census (img 31) age 17. Born Indiana.
Found him on the 1860 Marion, Lawrence, Indiana census (img 1) as John Finger age 27, farmer. Living with him are his wife, Sarah Finger age 22 Maria Finger, age 2 W. Dunlap, male, age 19 Henry Vlora age 12 Marcus Box age 19 and Tabitha Box age 18.
He enlisted in Company G, 4th Indiana Volunteer Cavalry on August 15, 1862 and was discharged on June 29, 1865. He died about a year later. His pension record states that 'It is also alleged that while on duty at Henderson, Ky on or about Sept or Oct, 1862, he was disabled by disease of bowels.'
