Found him on the 1920 Pearces Mill, Cumberland, North Carolina census (dist 66 img 18) as Ansell W. Melvin age 26, clerk, groceries, single, living at home. Found him on the 1930 Pearces Mill, Cumberland, North Carolina census (dist 29 img 43) age 32, salesman. His sister Irene, age 26, single, is living with his family. According to his death certificate his name was Ancil Walton Melvin and he was a retired postal employee.
