By 1870 the Finger family had made some property adjustments and appeared to be well settled. The census suggests that William P.
had divided their father's property, for the brothers occupied adjoining farms worth $4,000 each.
Found him on the 1880 Spring Valley, McPherson, Kansas census (dist 273 img 9) as William P. Finger
age 31, farmer.
Found him on the 1885 Paxton, Pratt, Kansas state census as W. P. Finger age 35, farmer. Besides farming, he worked as a hardware and implement salesman for Lehman and Company of Newton.
