Bertha Finger, 12 years old, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Finger died last Saturday morning at 3 o'clock from inflammation of the bowels. The funeral services were held at Ancram on Monday.

Bertha was loved by everybody, and was almost idolized by her fond but now stricken parents. She was a general favorite with her playmates, by whom she will be greatly missed; but none so much as her heart-broken, sorrowing parents, and how much they will miss her, none but those whose hearts have been bereft by the loss of an only and an affectionate child can tell. - The Republican November 29, 1888
