Found him on the 1850 Caernarvon, Lancaster, Pennsylvania census (img 35) as James Landis age 28. His wife's name is shown as Phoebeann Finger age 23. They are both living with her parents. Based on the births of his children, he must have moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio between 1856 and 1860. Found him on the 1860 Salem, Champaign, Ohio census (img 43) as James Landis age 36, farmer. He is living next to his parents. Found him on the 1880 Fairbury, Livingston, Illinois census (dist 110 img 38) as James Landis age 58, teamster. Also in his household are his brother Frederick D. Landis age 50, R.R. bridge carpenter and Henry B. Landis age 8, nephew.
