WWII Draft Registration
Ernest P. Finger, 85, a former Great Falls resident who was a retired programs chief in the real estate directorate of the Army Corps of Engineers, died Nov. 3 at his home in Sabetha, Kan., after a heart attack. He had Parkinson's disease and diabetes.
He came to the Washington area in the late 1930s and worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission before becoming a civilian employee of the Corps of Engineers about 1940. He retired in 1972 and was a recipient of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
Mr. Finger lived in Great Falls for 43 years before returning to his native Kansas in 1990. He served with the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II and participated in the invasion of Guadalcanal. He did volunteer work with the 4-H in Great Falls.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Blanche McCray, of Sabetha; a son, Dennis, of Cedar Vale, Kan.; two daughters, Karen Scarry and Sharon Todd, both of McLean; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
