Christian Finger came to the U.S. as a single man in 1905. We find him on the first census in 1910 (at age 30 in Powhattan, Kansas), in the household of
Gottlieb Wenger as a hired man. Gottlieb's daughter,
Clara Wenger later became his wife. The census records show his first child was born in 1913, so he must have married about that time. Interestingly Gottlieb was a witness for his
naturalization in 1917.
He and
Karl Finger, who came to the U.S. in 1925, are assumed to be brothers.
