He is listed on the 1870 Clermont, Columbia, New York census (img 15) as a female, Mary Potts age 4.

However, on the 1880 Upper Red Hook, Dutchess, New York census (dist 63 img 4) as a male, Harry Potts age 13.

Harry Potts, 91, resident of Red Hook the last 20 years, died Saturday in the Northern Dutchess Health center, Rhinebeck, after a brief illness.

Mr. Potts had spent the greater part of his life in Seattle, Wash., where he was a shipping clerk for Ayers and company, prior to his retirement more than 20 years ago.

A Native of Clermont, Mr. Potts was born August 19, 1865, the son of the late John and Anna Finger Potts. He was a member of St. John's reformed church, Red Hook. His wife, Mrs. Mary Sheets Potts, died a number of years ago.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Maude Halsey, with whom he resided and several nieces and nephews. - Poughkeepsie New Yorker November 12, 1956
